Canthoplasty, or lateral canthoplasty, is the name of an eyelid operation designed to reconstruct a weakened or stretched lateral canthal tendon that supports the lower eyelid at its outer corner.
Canthoplasty is used in both cosmetic but mainly reconstructive eyelid plastic surgery.
Medial canthoplasty is used rarely to reconstruct the tendon located at the inner corner of the eyelids.
The operation is one of more difficult and precise procedures in cosmetic eyelid surgery.
