Dermatochalasis

Dermatochalasis is simply a formal term that indicates excess or baggy eyelid skin.

If mild or moderate, dermatochalasis is of cosmetic significance. A baggy eyelid is not the same as a drooping eyelid that sits too low (ptosis).

When upper eyelid skin excess is severe and overlaps the eyelid margin, it may interfere with peripheral vision.

Baggy eyelids are treated by blepharoplasty.
