Monolid is a non-medical term that describes the condition of an upper eyelid without an eyelid crease.
The term single eyelid is more commonly employed to indicate the same thing.
Monlids or single eyelids are most common in those of Asian descent but may occur much less commonly in Europeans.
Some patients are born with one upper eyelid that is single and one that is double. Asian double eyelid surgery can create a new crease or reinforce a very weak crease.
