Oculoplastic Surgeon

An oculoplastic surgeon is an ophthalmologist who has undertaken additional training in the area of cosmetic and reconstructive surgery of the eyelids, lacrimal system, and orbit. Increasingly, such subspecialty training may include experience with face lifting leading to a call by some to change the designation from ocuoplastic to oculofacial surgeon.

Oculoplastic surgeons who complete a formal fellowship and post-fellowship testing may be granted certification as ophthalmic plastic and reconstructive eyelid specialists.

The term is often used in a loose manner by some surgeons without fellowship training to indicate a more focused interest in blepharoplasty eyelid surgery.
