A parallel eyelid crease describes the shape of the upper eyelid's fold. It may occur naturally or be surgically created during Asian double eyelid surgery.
A parallel crease means that the eyelid's fold runs parallel to the eyelid's edge along its full course from start to finish. There is no significant rise or fall of the crease at either corner of the eye.
Parallel is a common crease contour in non-Asian eyelids but may occur natually in some Asian lids as well. Other common crease shapes are tapered, semilunar, and lateral flare.
