Tapered Eyelid Crease

A tapered eyelid crease describes the shape and excursion of the fold that may occur either naturally or be surgically created in the upper eyelid.

A tapered crease means that the eyelid fold runs parallel to the eyelid's edge along its full course until it approaches the side of the eye closest the nose. From there, it gradually drops in height to blend into the top edge of the epicanthal fold.

Tapered is the most natural crease shape in Asian eyelis. Other common crease shapes found in Asian and non-Asian people are parallel, semilunar, and lateral flare.
